THE FINE PRINT // 

The Area Team Leader (ATL) will report to the Director of Restaurant Operations (DRO) and should inspire and embody HomeState’s culture, mission, and core values. The ATL will lead and develop store level managers to ensure they meet goals in many areas including, but not limited to driving operational success, guest hospitality, budgeting/financial acumen, hiring, training, scheduling, and adherence to SOPs for compliance in progressive counseling, HR actions, injury protocol, sanitation and safety. Most importantly, an ATL will lead and inspire others to create a nurturing restaurant environment where bold ideas flourish.  

The ATL is responsible to oversee the assigned restaurants day-to-day operations, including the development of managers, succession planning and ensuring all team members are receiving support. The expectation of the ATL is to maintain a presence at each restaurant, and to be a resource for general managers and all team members. (Salary ranges from $90,000 – $100,000)

Responsibilities

* Oversee and supervise assigned teams and day-to-day restaurant operations.
* Serve as a mentor in all facets of restaurant operations to ensure the highest level of hospitality.

* Review the financial performance of each location in partnership with the DRO.
* Provide the highest standards of hospitality and guest experience by being engaged in operations.
* Oversight of scheduling and staffing to ensure operational effectiveness and hospitality, while maintaining costs and efficiencies.
* Develop the current Management, Service Teams and Kitchen Teams to uphold the highest standards of service and hospitality.
* In partnership with the Kitchen Support Manager, maintain the highest standards of kitchen operations and food quality.
* Assist in hiring new team members and support proper training through planning and auditing.
* Participate and support new store openings, as needed.
* Partner with the HomeState Leadership Team and General Managers to implement any in store initiatives or trainings.
* Identify and address ways to meet and improve guest satisfaction and trust by exceeding guest expectations of cleanliness, atmosphere, hospitality and food quality.
* Communicate a deep understanding and commitment to HomeState’s purpose, core values, mission, strategy, vision, menu and operations in your day to day interactions.
* Act as a liaison between DRO and store management teams, as well as intra-store relationships.
* Assess and implement improved processes and new technologies, and collaborate with management and IT during implementation.
* Implement, maintain and refine the company’s Standard Operating Procedures in partnership with DRO.
* Oversee and audit the restaurant’s compliance with changing health and safety regulations.
* Participate in administering and completing performance reviews by setting goals, individualized development plans (IDP), coaching, and providing regular feedback.
* Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws, including in store postings.

WEEKLY

* Ensure proper equipment operation, use and maintenance.
* Attend weekly manager meetings to ensure all functions of the operation are being executed accurately and action plans are in place for continuous improvement.
* Conduct regular inspections of each store and promptly act to coach and correct deficiencies found during inspection via store management.
* Report to DRO and HomeState leadership any challenges, successes and works in progress.

MONTHLY

* Review Manager performance with DRO.
* Ensure end of the period processes are accurate, completed and submitted on time.
* Review monthly P&L statements and be aware of the current financial status of the operations.
* Review “Cost of Goods Sold” for the month and develop a plan to manage food cost.
* Review “Labor” percentages for the month and develop a plan to discuss strategies and impacts to the labor cost.
* To hold regular performance appraisals with all store level team, identifying areas for development and training needs and that current training methods and procedures are are effective.
* Generate reports summarizing store performance, including successes and areas for improvement, present and lead P&L overview meetings.

Experience

* 3-5 years in multi unit restaurant management position

Requirements

* A passion for food and hospitality
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Proven ability to successfully lead a large and diverse team
* Availability to work a minimum of five days per week including weekends, day shifts and evening shifts as needed. Extended hours and/or a sixth day may occasionally be required
* Must be able to to travel between HomeState locations as needed via personal transportation and ability to track mileage for reimbursement.

Physical Requirements

* Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time (6 or more hours per shift, excluding break times).
* Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 40 pounds (kitchen equipment, food storage containers, etc.)
* Ability to frequently bend and reach overhead.
* Ability to lift and use utensils (including chopping), and grip equipment such as beverage urns or other kitchen equipment.
* Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures ranging from hot (high radiant heat areas, ~ 82°) to cold (food storage areas, ~ 37 °).
* Ability to work near open flames, hot cooking equipment, and steam.
* Ability to work in tight spaces.
* Ability to recognize, perceive, and/or comprehend directions and spatial cues (e.g. “hot,” “behind,” “corner,” knife,” etc.) and communicate same as needed.
* Ability to sit, squat and kneel occasionally.
* Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
* Ability to regularly move around the restaurant with full range of mobility.
